However, those who purchase the Deluxe or 40 Years of WrestleMania Editions can get access to the game three days earlier on March 5.

The Outlast Trials, the prequel to the first two games, dumps up to four players in the middle of a horrifying Cold War experiment as they fight to survive. If you fancy something a bit more sedate, As Dusk Falls brings the story of two families whose trajectories collide in the Arizona desert to PS5 and PS4. Elsewhere, there is the tactical RPG Unicorn Overlord, or new off-road adventure Expeditions: A MudRunner Game.

The biggest game of the week is definitely Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and if you haven’t tried it already, there’s a demo available that will reward players with special in-game items that are carried over to the full game.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was originally released on PS3 in 2013 before making the jump to PS4 in 2015. Now Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is coming to PS5 this week, complete with rebuilt characters and landscapes and a re-recorded soundtrack. The final notable remaster, Star Wars: Dark Forces, is coming to both consoles with 4K resolution, advanced 3D rendering, remade cutscenes, and controller support.

Sony has teased that it is beginning to look into allowing PlayStation VR2 owners to access games on the PC, potentially bridging the gap between the formerly exclusive device and PC.

In a recent post on the PlayStation Blog detailing some of the games coming to the PS VR2 this year, Sony teased that they were working on PC support for the headset.

Sony hopes to have more updates soon

While Sony didn’t confirm much, it did say it hopes to have things up and running at some point this year.

“We’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5,” reads the post. “We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.”

Prior to this update, Sony had kept their virtual reality device anchored to the PlayStation console family, though fans have been trying to get the latest VR system to work on PC since its launch. It’s unclear exactly what a PS VR2-to-PC connection would allow, however, so fans will have to wait for a more detailed update from Sony to get some answers.

Both PS5 and PS4 get the delights of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, a turn-based tactics game that pits the player’s Grey Knights against the forces of Nurgle as they prevent the release of a plague on the galaxy.

However, most of the highlights can only be found on PS5. Pacific Drive puts its own twist on the survival horror genre as the player’s car plays an important part in surviving the anomalies and hazards of the Olympic Peninsula. Meanwhile, the dark fantasy retelling of Arthurian legend, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, finally makes its way to console. Finally, there’s The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout Anthology, a puzzle adventure game based on Brian Jacques’ Redwall book series.

Deep Silver announced Metro: Awakening, a new VR game on its way to PS VR 2, Oculus Quest, and Steam VR. Revealed at Sony’s State of Play event, the upcoming game is in development by 7th Guest developer Vertigo Games.

Metro: Awakening revealed at State of Play

Metro: Awakening takes place in 2028, five years before the first game and the original novel that inspired it. Players take the role of Serdar, a doctor living in the metro tunnels of an irradiated post-apocalyptic Moscow. He sets out into the dark in search of his missing wife and the medicine to cure her illness. This quest will test the player’s courage and Serdar’s sanity as he braves mutants, hostile survivors, and supernatural phenomena. In Metro: Awakening, this includes unraveling the mystery of Serdar’s own supernatural abilities and awakening the being he will one day become.

THQ and 4A Games released Metro 2033 in 2010. Based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s 2002 novel of the same name, it sees protagonist Artym embark on a journey across the Mocow Metro. He faces the horrors of the apocalypse and supernatural events that defy scientific explanations. The game was followed by Metro: Last Light in 2013 and Metro: Exodus in 2019. It’s unclear if the prequel will tie into the existing games to any degree. However, Metro: Awakening seeks to transfer the atmosphere to VR.

Deep Silver and Vertigo Games haven’t announced an exact release date for Metro: Awakening just yet. However, they plan to release the game sometime this year, and fans can wishlist it now on all three platforms.

A new report claims that Meta Quest sales significantly outpaced those of PSVR 2 over 2023’s prime holiday season. The report comes from folks over at Road to VR, who analyzed sales data from Amazon U.S. and included both the standard PSVR 2 box and Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle in its analysis.

PSVR 2 holiday 2023 sales has its limitations but paints a damning picture

Road to VR acknowledges that its data is limited because Sony does sell directly to consumers via PlayStation Direct, but found during its analysis that Amazon moves the most volume of VR headsets — including PSVR 2 — around the globe. Hence, its analysis seems fair.

According to the data available, for every one box of PSVR 2 moved, the Quest sold more than 30 units. Between November 16, 2023 and January 16, 2024, Meta Quest 2 and 3 sold 320,000 headsets whereas the PSVR 2 sold around 10,500. This data doesn’t include the original PSVR since it has been discontinued.

PSVR 2’s sales are further damaged but its lack of backwards compatibility. Sony has been making an effort to continue expanding the new headset’s library and did see initial success out of the gate, but it remains to be seen how well the PSVR 2 does going forward.
