Cyberpunk 2077 sequel update

CD Projekt RED has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 sequel code named Project Orion is going full steam ahead, and the studio has assembled a talented team of industry veterans for the task. Development will be led by CDPR’s North American studios based in the U.S. and Canada.

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel boasts an impressive team of AAA veterans

Dan Hernberg, formerly of Blizzard Entertainment, will serve as the sequel’s executive producer. He will be joined by Ryan Barnard as game director, who has previously served Ubisoft. Mortal Kombat series’ formal technical director Alan Villani has been assigned the role of engineering director, and award-winning writing Anna Megill will be the lead writer. Megill has previously written for games like Control (Remedy), Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (Arkane), and the upcoming Xbox game Fable.

Last but not least, former BioWare lead writer and New York Times bestselling novelist Alexander Freed will assist in writing Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel. “Project Orion is currently in the early stages of development, with studio veterans previously involved in Cyberpunk 2077 and its spy-thriller Phantom Liberty expansion spearheading the project,” CDPR wrote in a press release.

Separately, CDPR is busy working on The Witcher 4, which is expected to be its next release.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Development

Active development has started on the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, internally named Orion. Now that the Phantom Liberty expansion has been released for the original game, those involved in the development of the game’s sequel have headed to Boston to create a new CD Projekt Red studio solely to develop Orion.

Cyberpunk 2077 was “just a warm-up” to the sequel

Cyberpunk’s narrative director Igor Sarzyński confirmed that today was the team’s first day in their new Boston office and they had officially started work on Orion. He went on to add that he “couldn’t be more excited for this project” and he is “sure we can make it something special,” adding that “2077 was just a warm-up.” Little else is known about the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, although CDPR has previously said it “will take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe.”

Orion had been in the conceptual design phase up until the end of 2023. The game will now be developed primarily by the new CDPR team in Boston, with assistance from its studio in Vancouver. Throughout 2024, CD Projekt plans to increase its spending on research and development for the game.

By the end of the year, CDPR’s chief creative officer Adam Badowski hopes that a team of “several dozens” will be working on the game, including members of the team in the studio’s native Poland.

There are multiple projects in development at CD Projekt alongside Orion. There’s the next installment of the mainline The Witcher games, currently codenamed Polaris. This is aiming to be the first game in a brand new The Witcher trilogy. There’s also a separate full-fledged Witcher game called Canis Majoris and a new IP codenamed Hadar. Finally, there was a multiplayer The Witcher game in progress at developer The Molasses Flood, although the fate of this game is unknown following layoffs at the studio early last year.

PlayStation LifeStyle Game of the Year 2023

Unfortunately, 2023 wasn’t the best year for PlayStation exclusives. The only title from Sony’s stable to make it on our Game of the Year 2023 list is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, there were plenty of third-party masterpieces to make up for it. Check out our favorite games of the year below!

PlayStation LifeStyle Game of the Year 2023 List:

10. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Cyberpunk 2077’s had a long road to redemption. When Son kicked the game off the PlayStation Store because of technical issues, we never thought its DLC would end up on our Game of the Year list two years later. Phantom Liberty has enough content to be a game in its own right and offers an alternate take on how V’s journey could have ended up. Unfortunately, the DLC and the 2.0 update that launched alongside it are only available on PS5. However, if you have the PS4 version, you can still upgrade for free!

9. Final Fantasy 16

It seems inevitable that Final Fantasy 16 will be one of the more divisive entries in the series. It primarily concentrates on one character, Clive Rosfield, as opposed to a huge party, and the story is focused on his perspective. For some fans, that eschews franchise tradition, but we appreciated the narrowed focus compared to Final Fantasy 15, which was a bit all over the place. Clive’s story stands out as one of the more poignant we’ve seen in a Final Fantasy, and it’s a spectacle to behold.

8. Assassin’s Creed Mirage

This pseudo-prequel to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla takes the series back to its roots and pays homage to the original. Unlike the sprawling epics we’ve gotten in the last few entries, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is localized to 9th-century Baghdad and ditches many of the role-playing elements to emphasize stealth, assassinations, and parkour. We couldn’t help but be relieved to play a distilled experience, and Basim Ibn Ishaq’s origin story reminded us why we fell in love with the franchise in the first place.

7. Hogwarts Legacy

Despite the controversy surrounding the Harry Potter franchise, Hogwarts Legacy managed to captivate us with its rendition of the titular wizarding school and the surrounding countryside. For those of us who grew up alongside Harry, the chance to attend Hogwarts was a dream come true. Exploring its nooks and crannies, attending classes, and seeing the many easter eggs the developers included was a treat. Where Hogwarts Legacy goes above and beyond, though, is that the gameplay is fun enough to stand on its own merits. Even if this is your first visit to Hogwarts, you can still have a blast and leave wanting more.

6. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order itched the scratch Star Wars fans had for years when it was released in 2019, and we couldn’t wait to get back to a galaxy far, far away in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. It’s everything the first game was, but bigger and better. Cal gets more abilities and equipment, environments are more expensive, and we even get to chill in a cantina whenever we want. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor provides the excitement that most of Disney’s projects have lacked and has done much more to keep the franchise alive than it gets credit for.

5. Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 is our favorite fighting game of the year because of its respect for newcomers and veterans. It’s an excellent point to enter the series, thanks to its revamped mechanics and multiple control options. However, it still retains enough of the franchise’s traditions to keep from alienating those who cut their teeth on SF 2-5. We also loved the absolutely bonkers story mode that channeled Yakuza to make one of the best create-a-fighter experiences ever. If you have even a little interest in the fighting genre, it’s worth checking this game out.

4. Resident Evil 4 remake

Resident Evil 4 revolutionized the series when it debuted in 2005 and is lauded as one of the best games ever. Its influence on gaming as a whole is so strong that many doubted that a remake could do it justice. However, Capcom managed to pull off a fantastic retelling that complements the original perfectly. Almost every aspect of the original has been remade or expanded, and the updated gameplay makes blasting through Ganados a thrill. Resident Evil 4 remake is another excellent entry in the alternate continuity started with RE2 remake, and we’re excited to see which game gets reimagined next (fingers crossed for Code Veronica)!

3. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man and its Miles Morales-centric follow-up were hard acts to follow. Somehow, Insomniac Games managed to outdo themselves and then some with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Peter Parker and Miles join forces to take on a multitude of threats while navigating their personal lives. From Kraven the Hunter’s militaristic menace to the symbiote Venom sapping Peter of both his good nature and healthy relationships, this gutsy sequel took an already solid foundation and gave both heroes an expanded inventory of unlockable abilities, gadgets, and suits with which fans could explore and defend New York City. While this movie could have resulted in a tired storyline or rote gameplay loop, instead it strengthened an already excellent series with thoughtful writing, inclusive characters, and comic book-powered combat to satisfy all players. The biggest problem with this tandem adventure is that it eventually has to end.

2. Baldur’s Gate 3

Player agency has been a hot topic in the gaming industry for decades. Some studios like to keep players focused on the task at hand, while others open their worlds up for a bit more interaction. However, with Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios went beyond this. It removed practically all limitations to how a player could affect their surroundings. See a locked door? You can talk the key out of an NPC, blow it down, find a hidden route to completely bypass it, or simply ignore it. The challenge in this CRPG is to find your way, and there are so many possibilities and so much raw content that everyone’s playthrough will be different.

1. Alan Wake 2

It took 13 years for Alan Wake 2 to be released, but the wait was worth it. FBI agent Saga Anderson joins Alan’s struggle to escape the Dark Place, and we’re once again thrust into the madness surrounding the town of Bright Falls. The plot is a roller coaster examining family, religion, and the supernatural, and it had us hooked from beginning to end. Excellent pacing keeps the lengthy story from becoming a slog, and the ability to alternate between Saga and Alan’s story means each player will have a slightly different experience during their playthrough. While it’s rooted in survival horror, we recommend this game to anyone who wants a strong single-player experience.

  • Adjusted the Synapse Burnout quickhack. Decreased the max damage bonus from +400% to +300% for Tiers 3-5. Decreased the max damage bonus from +600% to +400% and lowered the bonus per RAM unit from 12% to 10% for the Iconic variant.

Adjustments to player movement

  • V can now start sprinting immediately after shooting rather than after a delay.
  • Fixed an issue where sprinting with held input was canceled by jumping, falling and other actions that don’t cancel toggled sprinting.
  • If V jumps while sprinting, sprint will now resume upon landing even if V was shooting while in the air (but not at the moment of landing). Also works for aiming, scanning and using melee weapons.
  • Fixed several issues with the “Multitasker” perk: sprint couldn’t be started while already shooting; sprint was cancelled by jumping, dodging/dashing or running out of Stamina; weapons were rapidly going in and out of the sprinting position (held closer to the chest).
  • Fixed an issue with the “Ninjutsu” perk where crouch sprinting couldn’t be activated with the hold crouch input.
  • During a slide with the “Ninjutsu” perk, pressing sprint or dodging/dashing will now make V crouch-sprint.
  • Sprinting “area” on controller sticks increased slightly to prevent accidentally stopping sprint.
  • Fixed an issue where sprint couldn’t be toggled during dodge/dash.
  • Dash slide! Pressing crouch during dodge/dash from a standing position makes V either slide (for forward dashes only) or crouch.
  • Dodge/dash during slide is now performed in the correct direction based on camera instead of the slide path, but can no longer be backwards or sideways – slide is canceled instead.
  • Slide direction can now be adjusted slightly sideways with directional inputs.
  • Slide can now be more consistently performed during a diagonal sprint.
  • Sliding can now be properly canceled with backward directional input.
  • Automatic vaulting during dash will no longer happen for backwards or sideways dashes. Regular vaulting with jump input is still possible in any direction.
  • Automatic climbing during dash will no longer happen if directional input isn’t held.
  • Automatic vaulting and climbing during dash should now be more consistent.
  • Fixed an issue where shooting was blocked while falling after an air dash.
  • Double tap dodge/dash can now be performed while another directional input on keyboard is held (resulting in a diagonal dodge/dash).
  • Fixed an issue where sprint was canceled by double-tap dodge/dash.
  • Fixed an issue where slides did not fully execute when playing with the Dynamic Control Scheme on a controller.

Additional changes

  • After crafting an item with the Active Chimera Core or Cerberus’s Decoded Behavioral System Component, the crafting specs required will disappear from the Crafting panel.
  • Players who completed all of Regina’s gigs prior to Update 2.0 will have the Neofiber cyberware they received as a reward replaced with Axolotl.
  • Stats from arm cyberware will now be applied correctly regardless if they are drawn or not.
  • Fixed an issue where V’s HP wouldn’t drop below 25% due to BioDyne Berserks’s effect remaining active permanently. Please note that this fix is not retroactive, as it won’t affect cases where this issue already occurred prior to 2.1.

Vehicles & Traffic

  • Opened the previously closed-off highway that spans Westbrook, Santo Domingo and Heywood.
  • It is now possible to lean while riding bikes. Use LShft/LCtrl on keyboard or Left Stick on a gamepad to make the rider lean – Up to lean forward, or Down to lean back. Leaning only changes your Center of Mass. Lean back and apply the gas to do a wheelie, lean forward and apply the brake to do an endo. Changing your Center of Mass changes how much traction you have at either end. Lean forward a little mid corner to induce oversteer, lean a little back to induce understeer. In the air, lean forward/backward to do flips, steer to do spins!
  • Added 5 new bikes to purchase from the Autofixer website.
  • Added a new car – the Porsche 911 Cabriolet. Visit the Autofixer website for more details.
  • Added an option to mark vehicles as Favorite in the Call Vehicle menu.
  • Added an option to throw knives and axes while riding bikes.

  • Added missing sound effects.
  • Fixed missing post-processing for voices.
  • Improvements to gun and combat sound effects.
  • Improvements to vehicle audio.
  • Various sound fixes.
  • Panam will no longer sound as if she’s in a holocall when talking to her about events from Phantom Liberty in person.

  • Improved the visuals of Kiroshi scanner highlights.
  • Changed the appearance of the Blackwall in Transmission to match its appearance in Phantom Liberty.
  • Fixed an issue where there could be a cigarette permanently attached to V’s hand.
  • The flame will now be properly aligned with exhaust pipes on the Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X.
  • Electroshock VFX released by Microgenerator will now have VFX when playing without Phantom Liberty.
  • Fixed some instances where the animations after installing cyberware at Ripperdocs would not trigger.

UI

  • Added an option to mark weapons as Favorite, so that selling, disassembling or dropping them is locked.
  • Changed how Resolution Scaling modes are presented in Graphics Settings. Added a toggle to switch between DLSS Super Resolution, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1 and Intel Xe Super Sampling 1.2. Depending on your selection you can customize other options, e.g. enable Dynamic Resolution Scaling.
  • Added a tooltip describing how to gain XP in each skill in the Skill Progression panel.
  • Attempting to attack or shoot in areas where combat is disabled will now display an “Action Blocked” popup on the HUD.

Misc

  • Fixed a crash occurring when trying to reach the second sniper in Play It Safe.
  • It will now be possible to properly interact with the radio in V’s apartment in Megabuilding H10.
  • Fixed an issue where there was still some dead zone after setting the Inner Dead Zone on a controller to 0.
  • Added more secrets to be discovered by players in Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.1

In just a few days, Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 will introduce a fully functioning NCART metro system for players to use. Today’s REDstreams show from developer CD Projekt Red also delved into several other new features that are coming soon, including radioport, replayable car races, boss fight improvements, and accessibility features,

The Cyberpunk 2077 metro system has been in the game since the outset

The NCART (Night City Area Rapid Transit) metro system has been in the game since the outset although it wasn’t functional. Overhead tracks could be found throughout the city and one player even located an unfinished train station. When Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 is released on PS5 on December 5, the metro system will become fully functional and will offer players a new way to travel around the city while enjoying the views.

Radioport is a new feature that no longer confines the game’s radio stations to vehicles. Players can listen to the radio when they’re doing other activities like walking through the city. Meanwhile, car races will still only be available through certain missions, but those missions can now be replayed. These will offer more rewards and discounts when purchasing cars through the Autofixer website. Additional chases will also be added in update 2.1.

Several boss fights will be improved for the new update. The most notable of those is the late-game Adam Smasher fight, where his AI has been upgraded and he now wields a Sandevistan from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.

A new Accessibility tab will be added to the game’s settings and this will collate all of the accessibility options in one place. As well as the features introduced with update 2.02, new additions will include:

  • Larger fonts
  • The ability to remove the timer in the Breach Protocol minigame
  • Larger HUD elements
  • HUD chromatic aberration effect toggle
  • The option to reduce HUD decorative element clutter
  • HUD lens distortion effect toggle
  • Weapon Cycling to Arm Cyberware toggle
  • Adaptive trigger intensity options

Finally, other new features will include new hangouts with romantic partners, the Porsche 911 Cabriolet, new motorcycles, upgraded motorcycle handling and new riding mechanics, “new secrets to discover,” and the usual batch of technical improvements. For more details on these features, check out the developer’s Twitch stream.

Cyberpunk 2077 update

CD Projekt RED has said that it’ll release another Cyberpunk 2077 update very soon with new gameplay features. The developer also hinted that incoming patch 2.1 may be the game’s final update.

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 release date set for early December

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.1 will be released on December 5 — the same day that the game’s recently announced Ultimate Edition will hit store shelves digitally and physically. In a tweet announcing the update, CD Projekt RED teased “new and hotly anticipated gameplay elements” but said that it’ll reveal more details on Friday, December 1, over on its Twitch channel.

Patch notes should become available nearer to release. As a reminder, Cyberpunk 2077’s Ultimate Edition will include update 2.0 on disc, so players who purchase the upcoming title will have a day-one update to download. Additionally, PS5 players specifically will need to download the Phantom Liberty expansion.

In a separate tweet, CD Projekt RED’s Global Community Director Marcin Momot suggested that update 2.1 will be Cyberpunk 2077’s final update.

CD Projekt RED recently confirmed that it’s ramping up development on the next game in The Witcher franchise, with at least half of the studio already having moved on to that project.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on PS5 doesn't have DLC on disc

Cyberpunk 2077’s Ultimate Edition was announced yesterday, and curiously, the PS5 version doesn’t have the Phantom Liberty DLC on disc. The move has left fans puzzled because the Xbox Series X|S physical edition does come with everything on disc. Apparently, the issue is on Sony’s end rather than CD Projekt RED‘s.

Why Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition on PS5 doesn’t have DLC on disc

According to Digital Foundry’s John Linneman, Sony mandates building a separate game SKU should developers want to release its DLC on disc later down the line. He claims to have heard about this issue from other developers, although neither CD Projekt RED nor Sony have commented in this particular instance.

When a follower asked if building a new SKU is a lot of work, Linneman said that he believes CD Projekt RED would have to recompile Cyberpunk 2077 with the DLC included as a separate version “which means resubmission to Sony.” He recons that costs time as well as money.

Nevertheless, PS5 players are unhappy with the move, as can be seen by the responses to the tweet below.

It’s highly unlikely that CD Projekt RED will change its mind since the discs will be on store shelves as soon as December 5.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition

A year after CD Projekt RED outed its existence, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition has been announced for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This edition will include the base game (post-update 2.0) and the Phantom Liberty expansion and will be released both digitally and physically.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition release date and contents

Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition will be released on December 5. While the digital version will be available worldwide, the physical edition will be available via select retailers. The base game will be on disc but unlike The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion will come in the form of a download code. CD Projekt RED confirmed as much in June when it told a fan that Phantom Liberty would only be available digitally.

“This new release is the perfect way to experience every story of the dark future; it also contains the free Update 2.0, which overhauled many of the game’s systems, introducing dynamic skill trees, high-octane vehicle combat, and enhanced enemy and police AI — as well as adding new weapons, vehicles, and clothes,” reads a press release.

There’s nothing fancy about the Ultimate Edition except for a few bells and whistles, like the previously released digital content available as part of the “My Rewards” program for all those who register.

Cyberpunk 2077 update

As promised, CD Projekt RED has rolled out Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.02 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, bringing a large number of improvements and fixes, including those specific to the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.02 patch notes (October 26, 2023)

Complete patch notes courtesy of CDPR are as follows:

Phantom Liberty-specific

  • Rebalanced the time limits for Vehicle Contracts.
  • Various fixes for animations, lighting, scenes, VFX, and more.
  • Fixed collision issues in various locations that could cause players to get stuck.
  • When starting a new game and skipping ahead to Phantom Liberty, quests that were simulated as completed will now be visible in the Journal.
  • Fixed an issue where the Quadra Sport R-7 “Vigilante” wasn’t available for purchase on the Autofixer website in some circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue where roadblocks were present in front of the Dogtown gates, thus preventing entry.
  • Sasquatch’s Hammer will now appear in the vendor’s stock at the stadium’s black market if it was originally missed after the boss fight with Sasquatch.
  • Dex’s body will now spawn in the landfill on saves where the option to skip ahead to Phantom Liberty was selected.
  • It will now be possible to pick up Jackie’s guns from the altar in El Coyote Cojo on saves where the option to skip ahead to Phantom Liberty was selected.
  • Fixed an issue where a placeholder pop-up would be displayed on Xbox Series X|S instead of an error message regarding Phantom Liberty’s installation.
  • Addicted To Chaos – Fixed an issue where it could become impossible to complete the quest if the stash is looted before receiving the message with the code.
  • Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos – Fixed an issue where, under specific circumstances, the quest could remain active even after failing it by not following the traces left by Songbird.
  • Firestarter – It will no longer be possible to disassemble the stadium security datashard after looting it from Hansen’s body, thus blocking quest progression.
  • Firestarter – It will now be possible to pick up the Bald Eagle weapon after siding with Songbird.
  • Gig: Roads to Redemption – Fixed an issue where the door leading to the stadium’s weapons factory could be opened by accident earlier in Firestarter, which later interfered with gig progression and could lock the player behind the door.
  • Hi Ho Silver Lining – Fixed an issue where the objective “Leave Heavy Hearts” might not be marked complete after leaving Heavy Hearts.
  • I’ve Seen That Face Before – Fixed an issue where the “Go to the vantage point” objective might not be marked complete after reaching the vantage point.
  • Moving Heat – Fixed an issue where it wasn’t possible to get in the car because it didn’t spawn.
  • Moving Heat – Fixed an issue where the quest could remain stuck on the “Leave with the car” objective even after getting in the car and leaving the area.
  • Run This Town – Fixed an issue where the Black Sapphire could become inaccessible because of closed shutters if the player had triggered combat in the lobby at the end of You Know My Name.
  • Run This Town – Fixed an issue where it wasn’t possible to meet Mr. Hands in Heavy Hearts because the elevator was disabled.
  • Run This Town – Fixed an issue where the character menu and fast travel remained blocked after removing Aguilar’s imprint.
  • Run This Town – Fixed an issue where the Journal incorrectly suggested that the player had to complete Gig: Spy in the Jungle to continue the quest when, in fact, Gig: Heaviest of Hearts was required instead.
  • Somewhat Damaged – Fixed an issue where Cerberus wouldn’t spawn until the corridor chase scene if the player fired a weapon in a specific spot near terminal Sierra.
  • Somewhat Damaged – Removed the attribute check from doors when locked in the Observation Room and adjusted the objective to make it clearer that hiding from Cerberus is required to progress.
  • Spider and the Fly – Fixed an issue where the boss fight with the Chimera might not start.
  • The Damned – Fixed an issue where the quest objective disappeared after the meeting in The Moth, thus blocking progress.
  • The Killing Moon – Fixed an issue where it was possible to trigger the police system while driving to the spaceport.
  • Things Done Changed – Fixed an issue where the screen could go black after calling the nurse.
  • Tomorrow Never Knows – Fixed an issue where completing Heroes made it impossible to ask Misty about the tarot cards.
  • New Person, Same Old Mistakes – Fixed an issue where the door to Bill’s hot dog stand was still closed for some players on 2.01.

Quests & Open World

  • Fixed an issue where the Quadra Type-66 “Wingate” wasn’t visible in the Call Vehicle menu after being purchased.
  • Johnny will no longer appear when collecting the reward for Trauma Drama prior to completing Act 1.
  • The Trauma Team website will now be accessible on V’s computer when the Killing in the Name quest is active.
  • Beat on the Brat: Arroyo – Fixed an issue where beating Buck while having Microgenerator cyberware equipped could block the completion of the quest.
  • Gig: We Have Your Wife – Fixed an issue where the gig might not start after approaching the quest area.
  • Life During Wartime – Fixed an issue where Panam might not get on the motorcycle and ride to the gas station if V got on theirs first.
  • Path of Glory – V will no longer flatline after entering the Delamain AV.
  • The Beast in Me – Fixed an issue where it wasn’t possible to shoot from the vehicle during the race.

Gameplay

  • Rebalanced the stats of some weapons based on player feedback.
  • The Malorian Arms 3516 received a buff. Recoil is easier to handle, even at low stamina, and damage was increased.
  • Crafting specs for Iconic weapons will now disappear after crafting the item.
  • Added stats to the tooltip of Monowire that were missing.
  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to duplicate junk items.
  • Bullets now deal damage correctly when shooting through glass.
  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to easily obtain Tier 5 Skill Shards early in the game. Their prices have also been adjusted.
  • Disabled the Bait quickhack on enemies standing at the edge of an area they’re not supposed to leave.
  • Fixed an issue where the Data Recycler perk recovered the base RAM cost without taking RAM reduction perks into account, thus recovering more RAM than was actually spent.
  • Fixed some specific instances where crowd NPCs could clip through vehicles while walking.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause elevators in various quests to spawn on an incorrect floor if a save/load was performed after they started moving.
  • Fixed an issue where the appearance of V’s hands in first-person perspective might not change correctly after installing or uninstalling arm cyberware.
  • Giving money to a homeless person will no longer lower your NCPD Wanted Level.
  • Fixed an issue where cyberware could get downgraded to Tier 1 after updating the game to 2.01.
  • Fixed skill progression passives.

PC-specific

  • Selecting default graphics settings should now pick the proper Quick Preset based on your hardware and according to the latest system recommendations.
  • Introduced a mechanism for the detection of mismatched or corrupted scripts, which are caused by outdated mods or file corruption during update/installation. It will now show a descriptive error message and close the game instead of resulting in a crash.

Console-specific

  • Increased the sav.dat internal buffer size to 15MiB without increasing the overall max save size.
  • Refactored the saving process to not overwrite a save until we know that the data is valid – this helps prevent save corruption in case there’s not enough space for saving.

Miscellaneous

  • Various optimizations, performance improvements, and crash fixes.
  • Fixed an issue where some achievements or trophies could unlock after loading a pre-2.0 save on 2.01 despite not meeting the criteria for them. Please note that this fix will not reset already unlocked achievements.
  • Fixed an issue where, under specific circumstances, a “Warning – Detected” message could be displayed instead of “Completed” when having your vehicle scanned or when connecting your personal link.
  • Fixed an issue of blinking trash that could sometimes be visible when crawling out of the landfill in Playing for Time.
  • Fixed a misaligned glitch effect on Johnny.
  • Fixed an issue where NPCs could appear stretched out when affected by explosions or the Savage Sling ability.
  • Fixed an issue where tooltips on the map and interaction prompts for renting apartments showed double the actual price.
  • Blocked Cross-progression from uploading saves bigger than the max save size limit on consoles to prevent crashes and issues when importing such saves.
  • Remastered the voiceover to improve audio quality in German, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.

Cyberpunk 2077 update

CD Projekt RED has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.02 is on its way, and provided an overview of the patch notes. The last two game updates were quite hefty and brought with them numerous changes and improvements, earning CDPR unanimous praise from players and critics for turning things around after Cyberpunk 2077’s botched launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.02 patch notes overview

No Cyberpunk 2077 update comes without at least three pages of patch notes so we expect to see a lengthy list of those soon. In the interim, CDPR has shared the following highlights:

  • V will no longer flatline after entering the Delamain AV in Path of Glory.
  • Fixed the shutters blocking entry to Black Sapphire in Run This Town.
  • Fixed an issue where cyberware could get downgraded to Tier 1 after updating the game to 2.01.
  • Fixed skill progression passives.
  • Rebalanced the timers in courier missions.

CDPR didn’t provide a release date for update 2.02 but did say that it’s coming soon. We’ll share full patch notes when they become available.

Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way since launch. CDPR recently admitted to a series of missteps and has vowed to show players that it’s committed to change.
