The list of new PS5 and PS4 games due to be released during the week beginning February 26, 2024, isn’t very big, but there are still several quality releases. The highlight of the week is the second part of the Final Fantasy VII remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but there is also a game from the Star Wars franchise and the latest version of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

A total of 15 games are coming to PS5 this week, while PS4 players get a shorter list of just 9 titles. The biggest game of the week is definitely Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and if you haven’t tried it already, there’s a demo available that will reward players with special in-game items that are carried over to the full game.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons was originally released on PS3 in 2013 before making the jump to PS4 in 2015. Now Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake is coming to PS5 this week, complete with rebuilt characters and landscapes and a re-recorded soundtrack. The final notable remaster, Star Wars: Dark Forces, is coming to both consoles with 4K resolution, advanced 3D rendering, remade cutscenes, and controller support.

Sony has teased that it is beginning to look into allowing PlayStation VR2 owners to access games on the PC, potentially bridging the gap between the formerly exclusive device and PC.

In a recent post on the PlayStation Blog detailing some of the games coming to the PS VR2 this year, Sony teased that they were working on PC support for the headset.

Sony hopes to have more updates soon

While Sony didn’t confirm much, it did say it hopes to have things up and running at some point this year.

“We’re pleased to share that we are currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5,” reads the post. “We hope to make this support available in 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.”

Prior to this update, Sony had kept their virtual reality device anchored to the PlayStation console family, though fans have been trying to get the latest VR system to work on PC since its launch. It’s unclear exactly what a PS VR2-to-PC connection would allow, however, so fans will have to wait for a more detailed update from Sony to get some answers.

Both PS5 and PS4 get the delights of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, a turn-based tactics game that pits the player’s Grey Knights against the forces of Nurgle as they prevent the release of a plague on the galaxy.

However, most of the highlights can only be found on PS5. Pacific Drive puts its own twist on the survival horror genre as the player’s car plays an important part in surviving the anomalies and hazards of the Olympic Peninsula. Meanwhile, the dark fantasy retelling of Arthurian legend, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, finally makes its way to console. Finally, there’s The Lost Legends of Redwall: The Scout Anthology, a puzzle adventure game based on Brian Jacques’ Redwall book series.

First up is Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft, which comes with updated graphics and controls, a new photo mode, and more than 200 trophies for both consoles. Finally, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV make their debut on PS5 too.

The highlight for both consoles is Foamstars, Square Enix’s new 4v4 online party shooter that is also coming to PS Plus Essential on day one. Meanwhile, PS5 players get Helldivers 2, the third-person squad shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios that pits players against the giant horrors of Super Earth once again.

There is a selection of PSVR 2 games this week too: puzzle simulation Border Bots VR, rogue-like and shooter Dead Hook, and fantasy action RPG Legendary Tales. Finally, the story-driven, dark fantasy adventure game The Inquisitor tells the story of what would happen if Christianity took a different turn.

The much-rumored Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition has now been announced and there’s only a short amount of time to wait as it launches as soon as next week. The new edition will include the base game as well as the extra DLC content and updates that have arrived since its release.

The Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition release date

Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will be released on February 9 for PS5 and PS4, as well as Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The announcement confirms a previous release date leak when the game was expected to show up at December’s The Game Awards.

The new edition will include the Separate Ways story DLC and the Extra DLC Pack, the latter of which includes costumes, weapons, and accessories for Leon and Ashley. Players will also be able to access all of the game’s updates so far, including Mercenaries mode and the PSVR 2 mode. Capcom hasn’t confirmed whether all of this content will be included on the game’s disc.

Players are hoping the new version will be like the Resident Evil 7 Gold Edition that had all DLC on the disc outside of the free-to-download “Not a Hero” DLC. On the contrary, the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition only put the game on the disc alongside a download code for the DLC, a decision that proved to be quite unpopular.

The new edition will likely help Resident Evil 4 to continue to be the fastest-selling Resident Evil title ever. Capcom recently confirmed the remake had helped RE4 sell a total of 6.48 million copies, largely helped by the aforementioned PSVR 2 update. This new total means the remake sold more than 1 million copies between October and December, giving it the title of the fastest-selling Resident Evil game in history.
